When the Waldo Canyon Fire swept through the Colorado Springs area in 2012 and the Black Forest Fire followed in 2013, our community felt the impact firsthand. Hundreds of homes were lost, families were displaced, and our region was forever changed. Those experiences are what drove us to take action.

What concerns us today is that our area faces an even greater fire risk than it did during those fires. Prolonged drought, rising temperatures, and expanding development into fire-prone land have created conditions that make preparedness more important than ever.
